Dans une déclaration rendue publique par un groupe de personnes, se réclamant d’une structure n’ayant aucune reconnaissance légale dénommée « Comité Union Tillabéri pour la Paix, la Sécurité et la Cohésion Sociale », sur les ondes de certains médias, les auteurs affirment : « Le déploiement des Forces étrangères notamment françaises sur les frontières du Burkina Faso et du Mali à partir de notre territoire avec à leurs côtés les mercenaires Tchadiens est fait dans la perspective de lancement d’attaque contre ces deux pays frères et amis ».
Ces allégations ne peuvent être tolérées au nom de la liberté d’expression ou d’association ; elles ne sauraient non plus être considérées comme une action citoyenne pouvant contribuer à la recherche de la paix et de la sécurité des populations pour lesquelles ce groupe prétend agir.
Le Gouvernement apporte un démenti formel à ces accusations infondées dont l’objectif est de porter atteinte à la crédibilité et à l’image de notre pays non seulement dans ses relations vis-à-vis de ses voisins mais aussi face à la communauté internationale.
Le Niger est profondément attaché à la souveraineté de chaque Etat et entretient des liens particuliers de fraternité et de solidarité avec le Mali et le Burkina Faso, surtout dans le contexte actuel de notre combat commun contre le terrorisme.
Le Gouvernement ne saurait accepter que des individus mus par des desseins inavoués cherchent au moyen des mensonges les plus grossiers à discréditer les importants efforts de l’Etat dans la lutte contre le terrorisme et la préservation de la sécurité des populations et de leurs biens.
Enfin, le Gouvernement tient à relever que les agissements des auteurs de cette déclaration qui vise à servir un autre agenda en semant le trouble et le désarroi au sein de la population et des Forces de Défense et de Sécurité, sont constitutifs de plusieurs infractions à la loi pénale et à l’ordonnance n° 84-06 du 1er mars 1984 portant régime des associations.
Aussi, a-t-il décidé de saisir la Justice afin d’engager des poursuites contre les auteurs, coauteurs et complices de cette déclaration.
