Salou Djibo, l’ancien président de la transition, candidat à la présidentielle de 2020-2021

Après l’assurance du Premier Ministre, Brigi Rafini que les scrutins prévus cette année se tiendront bien, les partis politiques continuent d’affûter leurs armes dans cette perspective. C’est le cas du Parti pour la justice et le Progrès (PJP Génération Doubara) qui a tenu son Congrès statutaire ce dimanche 28 juin et a désigné son candidat pour la prochaine présidentielle en la personne de Salou Djibou, Général à la retraite et ancien président de la transition de 2010-2011.

Salou Djibo portera le flambeau pour le Parti pour la Justice et le Progrès (PJP Génération Doubara) pour la présidentielle de 2020-2021 au Niger. Âgé de 55 ans, le Général à la retraite est connu pour avoir dirigé le coup d’Etat militaire du 18 février 2010 qui a renversé le président élu, Mamadou Tandja. Après une transition d’un an qu’il dirigera, il passera le témoin à l’actuel Chef d’Etat, Mahamadou Issoufou, élu lors du scrutin de 2011.

C’est fort de cette expérience à la tête du pays mais aussi de ses relations à l’international notamment au sein de la CEDEAO que Salou Djibo estime qu’il a le bon profil pour conduire la destinée des Nigériens. Après son investiture, il a en effet déclaré : « j’ai décidé d’être candidat à la prochaine élection présidentielle afin de faire la politique autrement et d’agir uniquement dans l’intérêt supérieur de notre pays…je connais ce pays, je connais ses défis, le fonctionnement de ses institutions et chacun de ses hommes politiques, pour l’avoir gouverné » souligne-t-il. Le Général à la retraite, indique qu’il saura également répondre efficacement sur les questions sécuritaires : « Pour ce qui est du domaine particulier de la défense et de la sécurité où les Nigériens m’attendent certainement plus que tout autre candidat aux élections présidentielles de 2020-2021, je dirai simplement que pour avoir servi plus de trente ans au sein de l’Armée nigérienne, je connais notre armée, son courage dans l’engagement et son professionnalisme », a-t-il déclaré.

Ainsi, après Bazoum Mohamed pour le Parti nigérien pour le Socialisme et la Démocratie (PNDS Tarayya, au pouvoir), Ibrahim Yacoubou du Mouvement patriote nigérien (MPN Kishin Kassa) et Djibril Baré Maïnassara pour l’Union des Forces populaires pour la Démocratie et le Progrès (UDFP-Sawaba), Salou Djibo est le 4ème candidat investi pour la présidentielle de 2020-2021 au Niger.
