Les résidences de l’opposant politique Moïse Katumbi et de son conseiller, Salomon Kalonda, ont été perquisitionnées par les services de renseignements militaires congolais à Kinshasa. Kalonda est détenu, accusé d’atteinte à la sûreté de l’État et de préparation d’un coup d’État.
Dans une série de développements politiques tendus en République démocratique du Congo (RDC), les résidences de l’opposant Moïse Katumbi et de son principal collaborateur, Salomon Kalonda, ont fait l’objet de perquisitions menées par les services de renseignements militaires congolais à Kinshasa.
La perquisition a débuté dans la résidence de Moïse Katumbi, candidat à la présidentielle prévue le 20 décembre 2023, alors qu’il était absent, ayant trouvé refuge à Lubumbashi depuis l’arrestation de son conseiller spécial, Salomon Kalonda, à l’aéroport de N’djili, il y a environ dix jours. Les autorités accusent Kalonda d’atteinte à la sûreté de l’État et de préparation d’un coup d’État.
Francis Kalombo, avocat et porte-parole de Katumbi, a déclaré que les perquisitions menées dans l’absence du propriétaire ou de ses avocats n’ont rien révélé. Toutefois, les résidences de Salomon Kalonda, où il est accusé de détention illégale d’arme à feu et de munitions de guerre, d’incitation des militaires à commettre des actes contraires à leur devoir et d’atteinte à la sûreté de l’État, ont également été perquisitionnées.
Cette série de perquisitions a suscité des inquiétudes au sein des organisations non gouvernementales, qui ont exprimé leur préoccupation quant à la volonté apparente des services de sécurité de cibler les opposants politiques, les journalistes et les défenseurs des droits humains en montant de fausses accusations à l’approche des élections.
Lors d’une conférence de presse à Kinshasa, le secrétaire général du parti de Katumbi, le député Bolengetenge, a dénoncé le « harcèlement politique » à l’encontre de Moïse Katumbi, accusant le pouvoir de Félix Tshisekedi de mener des agissements « innommables ». Ces développements surviennent après la répression de la marche de l’opposition le 20 mai dernier et l’interdiction d’un rassemblement devant le siège de la commission électorale.
Les chancelleries occidentales ont également exprimé leurs préoccupations quant au durcissement du climat politique à l’approche des élections, en particulier de la présidentielle à laquelle le président Tshisekedi, au pouvoir depuis 2019, s’est déclaré candidat. L’opposition soupçonne Tshisekedi de préparer une fraude massive et demande la recomposition de la commission électorale nationale indépendante (Ceni) et de la Cour constitutionnelle, deux institutions clés dans la gestion des résultats des scrutins.
