Ces dernières 48 heures, comme une traînée de poudre, l’information a fait le tour des médias locaux et des réseaux sociaux. La Société Nigérienne de Banque (SONIBANK) aurait été victime d’une cyberattaque qui a permis à des individus mal intentionnés de faire main basse sur le contenu de comptes gérés par l’établissement bancaire. Dans un communiqué rendu public ce vendredi, la Direction Générale de la SONIBANK a tenu à bémoliser l’ampleur des malversations et à rassurer sa clientèle et ses partenaires.
D’entrée, dans la note signée par son Directeur Général, Souley Oumarou, la SONIBANK reconnait bien qu’il y a eu des opérations frauduleuses qui ont été effectuées sur des comptes appartenant à ses clients. Mais contrairement aux informations relayées dans certains journaux et réseaux sociaux indiquant que des centaines de comptes avaient été siphonnés, elle s’inscrit en faux : « nous tenons à rassurer notre clientèle et partenaires que les malversations constatées ne concernent qu’un nombre limité à seize (16) comptes qui ont eu leurs soldes frauduleusement modifiés », lit-on on dans le communiqué.
En outre, informe-t-elle, « ces malversations ont du reste été rapidement constatées, ce qui a permis de contenir les tentatives de retraits sur ces comptes » et de poursuivre que « toutes les mesures sont prises pour juguler ces fraudes et des investigations se poursuivent ». Pour finir, le Directeur Général, n’a pas manqué de remercier l’ensemble des équipes de la SONIBANK pour leur prompte réaction et les mesures prises dans les meilleurs délais pour « sécuriser davantage le système d’information ».
Avec un capital social de 12 milliards de FCFA, la SONIBANK est le leader du secteur bancaire au Niger avec un peu plus de 23 % de part de marché. Elle fête cette année ses 29 années d’existence et demeure plus que jamais « l’allié de la réussite » de ses clients et partenaires.
