Le Médiateur de la République du Niger, Me Ali Sirfi Maiga a dans un communiqué rendu public le vendredi 26 février 2021 à son Cabinet, condamné la vague de violences issue des contestations des résultats du second tour de la présidentielle au Niger. Mais aussi les atteintes graves aux personnes, aux biens et aux symboles sacrés pendant ces manifestations.
Dans ce communiqué, le Médiateur de la République a constaté avec préoccupation que la proclamation des résultats globaux provisoires par la CENI «a déclenché une vague de violences d’une rare intensité, avec des atteintes graves aux personnes, aux biens et à des symboles sacrés. Ce qui ne nous ressemble pas et qui pourrait, si l’on n’y prend garde, fragiliser le socle précieux de notre unité et de notre démocratie» déplore-t-il.
Il a à cet effet condamné de tels comportements et rappelle à tous que la CENI ne s’est limitée qu’à son strict rôle qui est, l’organisation, la supervision et la proclamation des résultats globaux provisoires. Le Médiateur a en outre rappelé que la décision finale de valider les élections relève de la Cour Constitutionnelle, conformément aux lois de la République du Niger.
Me Ali Sirfi Maiga en appelle << au sens de responsabilité et à l’esprit de civisme des Nigériens et leur demande de faire confiance aux institutions de l’Etat en charge du contrôle de la régularité des opérations électorales».
Auparavant , le Médiateur a affirmé que << les élections générales au Niger se sont déroulées jusqu’ici dans un climat de sérénité unanimement salué de par le monde>>. Pour lui, ce comportement digne << vient rappeler la maturité d’esprit, le souci de paix et la soumission aux lois qui singularisent le Nigérien et font sa fierté>>.
En attendant la proclamation définitive des résultats, le Médiateur de la République dit compter sur la bonne volonté de toutes les parties prenantes afin d’éloigner du pays le spectre effrayant de la destruction et permettre de construire une nation digne qui fera la fierté de la postérité.
Pour ce faire, «les auteurs des troubles actuels doivent faire preuve de grande tempérance et cesser leurs actes répréhensibles, en total porte-à-faux avec notre culture et nos valeurs ancestrales», a-t-il conclu.
