La France respectera le calendrier du retrait de ses soldats basés au Niger. Les 1 500 hommes quitteront le pays le 31 décembre comme prévu. Le commandant des forces françaises au Sahel a confirmé ce départ lors d’une conférence de presse vendredi à Niamey.
Les premiers soldats ayant quitté le Niger sont arrivés jeudi au Tchad. Alors que le flux logistique doit débuter la semaine prochaine.
“Nous avons 282 soldats français qui sont partis, il y a des mouvements importants qui vont avoir lieu dans les prochains jours donc dans une semaine nous serons presque à moitié désengagés, mais les grands flux logistiques vont vraiment commencer la semaine prochaine, parce qu’évidemment vous imaginez bien que pour faire sortir 1 500 personnes, il y a toutes les opérations de préparation, de mise en place des containers (de matériel, ndlr) et ainsi de suite, les containers, il y en a 2 500 à faire sortir à peu près.”, a expliqué Eric Ozanne, commandant des forces françaises au Sahel.
Ces opérations sont organisées en collaboration avec les autorités nigériennes. Une transparence nécessaire pour rassurer la population au regard du contexte des relations entre Paris et Niamey.
“Nous appelons la population justement à ne pas, comment on dit, se comporter, je ne dirais pas de façon irresponsable, mais à attiser la haine, aujourd’hui, nous avons travaillé ensemble pendant des années, nous avons demandé à ce qu’ils partent, donc nous aimerions que tout se passe très très bien, qu’ils puissent rentrer au Tchad.”, a rassuré le Colonel Mamane Sani Kiaou, chef d’état-major de l’armée nigérienne.
Les militaires au pouvoir à Niamey depuis la chute de Mohamed Bazoum ont demandé le départ des 1 500 soldats français, au nom de la souveraineté de leur pays.
