La diplomatie nigérienne entend faire promouvoir les intérêts mondiaux et ceux de l’Afrique avec un accent sur les questions régionales qui ont un impact direct sur le Niger.
‘’Il s’agit de toutes les questions autour du sahel notamment la sécurité, le développement et la crise migratoire. L’engagement du Niger aux cotés des autres Nations du monde est unanimement reconnu’’, fait valoir le ministère des Affaires Etrangères.
‘’L’accession du Niger au conseil de sécurité en qualité de membre non permanent permettra de consolider ses acquis et de faire avancer les préoccupations spécifiques à l’Afrique et au reste du monde affecté par des situations défavorables à leur épanouissement économique et social’’, argumente la note.
Cette tribune offrira au Niger la possibilité d’agir en priorité dans la gestion des conflits actuels mais aussi dans la prévention des conflits, le changement climatique, la politique de sécurité, les femmes, la paix et le renforcement du système humanitaire mondial, est-il détaillé.
Le conseil de sécurité de l’organisation des nations unies est l’organe décisionnel de l’organisation qui comprend 15 membres dont 5 membres permanents (Etats Unis, Chine, France, Russie et du Royaume Uni).
Les dix autres membres non permanents avec un mandat de 2 ans sont élus, selon une représentation régionale.
Ces dernières années, le Niger a fait entendre sa voix sur plusieurs sujets parmi lesquels la sécurité au sahel en assurant la présidence du G5 Sahel, la crise libyenne, la monnaie unique régionale ou la zone de libre échange économique dont le chef le l’Etat est le parrain.
