Reportée à deux reprises en raison de la crise sanitaire, la 9e édition des Jeux de la Francophonie se tiendra désormais du 28 juillet au 6 août 2023 à Kinshasa, en République démocratique du Congo.
À l’instar des autres pays francophones, le Niger participera également à cette compétition internationale, se qualifiant pour la première fois dans 10 disciplines sur 11. Cependant, à moins de 20 jours de la compétition, rien n’a encore été fait pour les artistes nigériens sélectionnés pour représenter le Niger. « Le ministère de la culture est resté silencieux depuis sa rencontre avec les médias le 2 juin dernier, lors de la présentation des candidats, et n’a toujours pas mis à notre disposition les moyens annoncés pour la préparation des œuvres en vue de la compétition« , déplore l’artiste Kitary, candidat dans la catégorie chanson.
Ainsi, huit des dix candidats ont tenu une conférence de presse ce 5 juillet 2023 à la Blue Zone de Niamey pour informer l’opinion publique de la mauvaise gestion et de l’organisation par le ministère de la culture. Pour Mohamed Harouna Coulibaly, alias Kitary, « l’objectif de ce point de presse est d’attirer l’attention des autorités afin de trouver une solution adéquate et rapide. Pour participer à une compétition d’une telle envergure, il est essentiel que les conditions soient réunies. Le ministère ne devrait pas nous demander de préfinancer alors que les jeunes artistes n’ont rien. Lorsqu’il s’agit de participer à une compétition, on te donne le strict minimum à la dernière minute et on attend à ce que tu fasses l’impossible. Je ne pense pas que cela nous aide.«
Par ailleurs, les candidats dénoncent l’encadrement. Selon le jeune candidat marionnettiste Karim, « des encadreurs nous ont été imposés sans demander notre avis ni clarifier leur rôle exact et les per diem qu’ils devront percevoir. Comment pouvons-nous partir dans de telles conditions d’incertitude ?«
Les artistes ont été invités à présenter un budget, mais également à justifier cette somme, bien que ces derniers affirment n’avoir encore rien touché. « Comment peut-on nous demander de justifier quelque chose que nous n’avons pas reçu ? De plus, nous avons l’impression d’être laissés à nous-mêmes en ce qui concerne l’aspect technique des épreuves.
