Le Président de la République, Chef de l’Etat, SEM Issoufou Mahamadou, a présidé jeudi, 20 février 2020, au Palais de la Présidence, la deuxième Réunion du Comité de Suivi de la Feuille de Route relative aux engagements communs issus de la Réunion de Pau.
Cette réunion a regroupé le Premier Ministre, Chef du Gouvernement SEM Brigi Rafini, des membres du Gouvernement et des responsables militaires du Niger, le Chef d’Etat-Major de la Force Conjointe du G5 Sahel, l’Ambassadeur de France au Niger et des responsables militaires français.
« Nous avons abordé toute une série de questions sur notre coopération en matière de défense, tous les engagements de Pau et tous les axes de la Coalition pour le Sahel qui a été lancée à Pau», a indiqué l’Ambassadeur de France au Niger, M. Alexandre Garcia, à l’issue de la rencontre.
La lutte contre le terrorisme, le renforcement des capacités, le renforcement de la présence de l’Etat dans les régions en crise et aussi les questions de développement, ont ainsi été au centre de cette réunion.
« Ce qui est frappant et qui est un motif de grande satisfaction, c’est la qualité de la coopération, de la coordination entre les forces armées nigériennes et la Force Barkhane ainsi qu’avec les forces conjointes du G5 Sahel sur le terrain », s’est réjoui le diplomate français.
« En ce moment même sont menées des opérations conjointes. Elles permettent d’obtenir de très bons résultats. C’est un motif de très grande satisfaction », a-t-il annoncé.
« Nous avons également évoqué la mise en place du commandement conjoint de la coalition qui se met en place progressivement ici à Niamey, qui sera opérationnelle dans quelques jours à Niamey entre le G5 Sahel les forces armées régionales et Barkhane », a-t-il ajouté.
Il a également été question de l’Alliance Sahel qui tiendra son Assemblée Générale la semaine prochaine à Nouakchott. Il s’agit de relancer cette Alliance pour montrer aux populations locales des résultats tangibles, concrets, en faveur du développement dans les régions, particulièrement celles en crise, a dit M. Garcia, précisant que l’accent, dans le cas du Niger, est mis sur les régions de Tillabéry et de Tahoua.
La première réunion de ce comité s’était tenue le 4 février dernier, rappelle-t-on.
