Commémorations au Rwanda du génocide des Tutsis. Vingt-cinq ans après, le pays se souvient de l’indicible. Aujourd’hui, opposant en exil au régime de Paul Kagame, il estime que ce dernier a travesti l’histoire du pays pour cacher les crimes de sa rébellion et asseoir son pouvoir : « Moi, j’ai combattu pour la démocratie mais, dans ma tête, c’était surtout pour l’unité du peuple rwandais. Alors, quand on commence à créer un système d’apartheid entre les morts, les Tutsis et les Hutus, et qu’on commémore les 25 ans uniquement pour les Tutsis, je vous dis en toute sincérité, je suis sidéré. Je suis témoin dans mon histoire et personne ne peut me tromper sur ce qui s’est passé. En 1994, les Hutus qui étaient opposés au régime du président Habyarimana ont été tués, non seulement par les Interahamwe [milice rwandaise du parti du président Habyarimana], mais aussi par le FPR [Front patriotique rwandais]. Deuxièmement, les Tutsis effectivement ont été massacrés par les Hutus, personne ne le renie. Mais allez dire que seuls les Tutsis ont été tués, alors que Kagame ou son armée a tué les Hutus sur ses instructions. Un point très important : je ne suis pas négationniste et je ne suis pas génocidaire. Tout ce que je dis et tout ce que je veux pour mon peuple, c’est l’unité et la vérité. Donc la vérité n’est pas dite, absolument pas, dans ce qui se passe aujourd’hui. »
Diogène Bideri s’inscrit, en revanche, en totale opposition à Faustin Twagiramungu. Pour le conseiller juridique principal à la Commission nationale de lutte contre le génocide, le mot « apartheid » n’a aucun sens et il n’y a aucune confiscation de la mémoire des Rwandais par les autorités.
