Le Président de la République, Chef de l’État, S.E.M Mohamed Bazoum effectue du jeudi 31 mars au vendredi 1er avril une visite de travail et d’amitié en République Fédérale du Nigeria.
L’objet de ce déplacement dans ce pays lié avec le Niger par une communauté de destin et partageant de solides attaches historiques, géographiques et culturelles, s’inscrit le cadre du renforcement d’une coopération multidimensionnelle déjà exemplaire.
Le chef de l’Etat qui entreprend cette seconde visite de travail et d’amitié après celle effectuée le 19 avril 2021, aux lendemains de son investiture, entretient cette amitié séculaire confortée par l’établissement d’une Commission Mixte de Coopération NigéroNigériane mise en place dès 1971. Il est de tradition que le Président du Niger ne déroge pas à cette règle d’effectuer sa première sortie dans ce pays frère avec lequel nous avons en partage 1500 km de frontière terrestre.
Déjà juste après son investiture, le Président BUHARI a consacré sa première visite à l’extérieur de son pays au Niger les 3-4 juin 2015, ce qui prouve l’intérêt mutuel entre les deux nations.
Les entretiens du Président de la République SE M. Mohamed BAZOUM avec son homologue SE M. Muhammadu Buhari porteront sur les questions de sécurité qui intéressent les deux parties avec les agissements du banditisme résiduel transfrontalier entre les Etats de Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto et les régions de Maradi et Tahoua ainsi que le foyer terroriste circonscrit dans l’Etat du Borno de Boko Haram avec les attaques sporadiques dans la région de Diffa.
Les relations économiques seront au centre des discussions dans la mesure où le Nigeria joue un rôle éminent en étant l’un des principaux clients et fournisseurs du Niger. Pour optimiser et fluidifier ce cadre commercial, le secteur du transport sera abordé avec le projet de chemin de fer Kano – Maradi long de 284 km (ligne qui se prolonge jusqu’à Lagos), censé faire du Nigeria la plaque tournante d’import-export pour le Niger.
Enfin la question énergétique sera également un des sujets de l’ordre du jour : l’objectif national est de réduire la dépendance de l’électricité importée du Nigeria, (actuellement culminant à 75% du total), grâce au mix-énergétique en cours de développement au Niger.
Le volet Pétrole, pour ces deux pays producteurs et exportateurs, fera naturellement l’objet d’une attention particulière des deux dirigeants qui se chargeront d’explorer toutes les
possibilités qui peuvent être profitables aux deux pays.
