Des jeunes de ses quartiers munis de pierres, gourdins, coupe-coupe, bâtons et autres ont décidé d’en découdre avec les forces de l’ordre venus faire respecter la mesure d’interdiction d’accéder aux mosquées. « Ils ne nous empêcheront pas de prier dans les mosquées ni de faire la Jumm’a » scandaient-ils entre autres récriminations.
Ces jeunes ont érigé des barricades et brûler des pneus pour empêcher l’avancée des forces de l’ordre. Des échauffourées et des courses poursuites ont rythmé l’après-midi de ce vendredi.
Le Niger compte à la date du 16 avril 609 cas de contaminations de Covid-19 parmi lesquels on déplore 15 morts. Le gouvernement a pris un ensemble de mesures pour endiguer la propagation de la pandémie. Un état d’urgence sanitaire a été décrété sur toute l’étendue du territoire nationale et les mesures tendaient entre à restreindre ou interdire la circulation des personnes, instaurer un couvre-feu à dans la capitale, ou encore ordonner la fermeture provisoire de certaines catégories d’établissements recevant du public. Mais force est de constater que ces mesures sont loin d’être scrupuleusement respectées et pendant ce temps le Covid-19 gagne du terrain dans le pays.
