Suite à la diffusion d’une information sur les réseaux sociaux et certains médias, qui fait cas de graves violations de droits humains par les Forces de défense et de sécurité (FDS), principalement le « massacres en masse de civils » dans la zone nord de Tillabéri, où les forces nigériennes mènent depuis quelques années, des opérations de lutte contre des groupes terroristes, le ministre de la défense nationale Pr Issoufou Katambé a décidé de faire une mise au point.
Selon ces informations qui inondent la toile depuis un certain temps, ce sont 102 personnes en majorité des éleveurs et agriculteurs qui ont été arrêtés par l’armée nigérienne entre le 27 mars et le 2 avril, non loin d’Inates et Ayorou et qui ont par la suite été exécutés, puis enterrés dans des fosses communes.
Le ministre de la Défense nationale, a démenti à travers un communiqué ces « allégations » qui pour lui visent à ternir l’image de l’armée nigérienne qui est formée au respect des droits de l’homme dans le cadre de la lutte contre le terrorisme. Il évoque le professionnalisme avec lequel les forces nigériennes mènent leurs missions, conformément aux objectifs qui leur ont été fixés par le gouvernement. « Ces soldats remplissent leurs missions avec professionnalisme et ont toute la confiance du chef de l’Etat » a-t-il dit avant de préciser qu’au regard de la « gravité des allégations » une enquête est diligentée par les services habilités pour faire toute la lumière.
Pour rappel cette zone a été placée sous état d’urgence depuis 2017 et les attaques terroristes, notamment contre des positions de l’armée, se sont multipliées fin 2019. Depuis, les forces nigériennes ont réorganisé leurs dispositifs et renforcé les effectifs avec le soutien de certains partenaires notamment la Force conjointe du G5 Sahel, la force française Barkhane et des soldats américains.
