Présidentielles/ PLA.FOND: « …le Niger s’illustre en une école de démocratie… »

Le mardi 12 janvier 2021, Ousseini Tinni, président de l’Assemblée nationale, Ousseini Tinni a eu au sein de son institution, une série d’échanges avec une équipe d’observateurs des élections législatives couplées au 1er tour de la présidentielle du 27 décembre 2020. Composée de membres de la société civile africaine réunie au sein de la plate-forme des Associations et ONG pour la Promotion de la démocratie et de la bonne gouvernance (PLA.FOND), la délégation est venue pour « présenter au président de l’Assemblée nationale en tant que 2ème personnalité du pays, les copies des différentes déclarations qu’ils ont rendues publiques ».

Dans les premières lignes de son allocution, Caves Paul, Secrétaire exécutif de la plate-forme et chef de la délégation a informé que « certains observateurs vont retourner dans leurs pays respectifs, pendant que d’autres resteront jusqu’à la proclamation des résultats définitifs par la Cour Constitutionnelle » avant de s’annoncer sur le cadre législatif en vigueur au Niger. «Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l’alternance à laquelle le Président sortant donne de l’importance. Vous voyez dans notre espace la manière dont les Chefs d’Etat s’accrochent au pouvoir, trois voire quatre mandats, alors que nous les acteurs non étatiques combattons cet état d’esprit. Le Niger a eu la chance d’avoir un président qui vient de dire, qu’il ne touche pas à la constitution. Nous félicitons le courage de cet homme charismatique qui est SE Issoufou Mahamadou tout en encourageant ceux qui sont en fin de leur mandat à emboiter le pas de ce grand Monsieur».

Les observateurs ont aussi évoqué au président du parlement nigérien leurs opinions sur « la classe politique nigérienne » et sur le fait que « le Niger s’illustre en une école de démocratie, pendant ces moments majeurs que le pays traverse ».

Pour sa part Oyéoussi Charles Balongoun de l’ONG Afrique Espérance pense que «toutes les institutions impliquées dans le processus électorales font leur travail. Quand la Cour Constitutionnelle sortira sa décision, tout le monde va l’accepter. Il ne faut pas que la classe politique soulève la population. On n’en a pas besoin en Afrique. Nous avons beaucoup de choses à faire pour développer nos pays. Respectons les décisions de nos institutions que nous avions établies».
