Les Nigériens ont vécu un évènement historique ce vendredi 02 avril 2021. Le président élu du Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, a prêté serment et succédé à Issoufou Mahamadou qui a bouclé deux mandats à la tête du pays. C’est la première fois depuis l’accession du Niger à la souveraineté internationale qu’une transition pacifique se tient entre deux présidents.
Plusieurs chefs d’Etat africains ont assisté à la prestation de serment ce vendredi à Niamey de Mohamed Bazoum. En plus des centaines de personnalités et d’anonymes qui ont fait le déplacement du Centre international de Conférence Mahatma Ghandi, les Nigériens étaient des millions devant leurs petits écrans pour vivre cet instant historique. C’est la première fois de l’ère démocratique du pays qu’a lieu un passage de témoin entre deux présidents civils démocratiquement élus.
Cette investiture se tient deux jours après une tentative de coup d’Etat déjouée. Aussi pour le nouvel homme fort de Niamey de Niamey, la sécurité sera l’une de ses priorités notamment dans un pays en proie à des actes de terrorisme au niveau de la zone dite des trois frontières. Mohamed Bazoum a promis de mener une lutte implacable contre les djihadistes de tous bords.
Le nouveau président nigérien a aussi parlé du secteur économique. Il promet d’élever le taux de croissance durant son mandat de 6% actuellement à 8% d’ici 2026. De porter la pression fiscale de 19% actuellement à 20% pour permettre à l’Etat d’avoir les moyens pour financer les grands travaux. Le successeur d’Issoufou Mahamadou n’a pas manqué de tendre la main à son challenger à la Présidentielle, l’ancien Président Mahamane Ousmane et aux autres forces vives de la nation afin qu’ils travaillent ensemble à l’unité nationale. Ce dernier conteste toujours les résultats de la présidentielle et appellent à des manifestations pacifiques.
