Cette situation s’explique par la crise sanitaire du coronavirus qui a eu des impacts négatifs sur l’économie, indique-t-on du côté de Niamey. De fait, le gouvernement avait adopté plusieurs mesures, notamment la suspension des poursuites en matière de recouvrement des impôts et taxes pendant trois mois pour certains secteurs d’activités.
Alors que la tendance à la collecte semble baisser depuis 2019, le gouvernement tente de mettre en place un ensemble de réformes visant à améliorer la situation, notamment la déclaration et le paiement des impôts et taxes en ligne. Aussi, la Haute autorité de lutte contre la corruption et les infractions assimilées (Halcia) s’est-elle lancée début 2021, dans une vaste opération de vérifications fiscales qui lui a permis de récupérer plus de 234 milliards FCFA pour l’État nigérien.
