Au moins 56 terroristes ont été tués et 13 autres arrêtés mardi par les Forces armées nigériennes (FAN) dans la région de Tillabéry (ouest), proche de la frontière avec le Mali, a-t-on appris jeudi de sources sécuritaires.
L’armée a mené cette opération en riposte à l’attaque subie par l’une de ses unités détachées lundi. Cette attaque a été perpétrée par des terroristes et a entraîné la mort de sept militaires. Trois autres militaires ont été blessés « dont un dans un cas grave », selon le bilan officiel.
« Après l’embuscade qui a coûté la vie à sept de nos militaires lundi, les Forces armées nigériennes ont mené une opération dans la zone qui a permis de neutraliser 56 terroristes, d’en arrêter 13 autres et de récupérer 56 véhicules » pris par les assaillants, ont précisé ces mêmes sources sécuritaires.
Aucune réaction officielle concernant cette riposte menée par les FAN n’a été émise jusque-là.
