Mali : Le ministère des Affaires étrangères convoque l’ambassadrice des Etats-Unis

L’Ambassadrice des Etats-Unis d’Amérique au Mali, Rachna Korhonen, a été convoquée, par le ministère malien des Affaires étrangères pour lui signifier « les vives protestations du gouvernement et l’extrême gravité des fausses accusations portées contre la République du Mali » a indiqué, dimanche, le porte-parole du gouvernement dans un communiqué.

Cette convocation fait suite à « la décision unilatérale du Gouvernement des Etats-Unis d’Amérique, le 25 mai 2023, d’imposer des restrictions de visa à l’encontre de deux vaillants officiers de l’Armée malienne, pour des actes présumés, sur l’unique fondement du Rapport des Nations unies sur « les évènements de Moura » », explique le colonel Abdoulaye Maiga ministre de l’Administration territoriale et porte-parole du gouvernement.

Les Etats-Unis ont imposé, le 25 mai dernier, des restrictions de visa au colonel Moustapha Sangaré et au major Lassine Togola. La diplomatie américaine reproche à ces responsables de l’armée malienne d’être impliqués dans des violations des droits humains liés au massacre de Moura qui a fait plus de 500 morts en mars 2022, selon l’ONU.

Le patron du groupe paramilitaire Wagner au Mali, le Russe Ivan Alexander Maslov, lui, est sanctionné par le département du Trésor américain. Washington a décidé de geler et confisquer ses avoirs situés aux États-Unis.

Le 13 mai courant, le Gouvernement de la Transition a contesté le rapport de l’ONU qualifié de “biaisé” tant sur l’approche que sur son contenu et a décidé d’ouvrir une enquête judiciaire contre la mission

d’établissement des faits des Nations unies « et ses complices » pour « espionnage », « atteinte à la sûreté extérieure de l’État », et « complot militaire ».

« Au-delà de la mesure elle-même, sans fondement et injuste, le message que le Gouvernement des Etats-Unis d’Amérique véhicule, ainsi que la forme publique de son annonce, portent atteinte à la présomption d’innocence des intéressés et jettent le discrédit sur l’ensemble de l’Institution militaire », a déclaré la même source.
