Le président nigérien Mahamadou Issoufou a condamné dimanche l’attaque terroriste qu’il a qualifiée de « lâche et barbare » qui a fait huit morts dont six touristes français et deux Nigériens (un guide et un chauffeur) dimanche dans la zone de Kouré, située à environ 70km au sud-est de Niamey, la capitale du Niger, a-t-on appris de source officielle.

Le ministère de l’Intérieur a annoncé qu’une enquête ainsi que des opérations de ratissage « en collaboration avec nos partenaires » étaient en cours en vue de « dénicher les auteurs de cet acte ignoble et renforcer la sécurité dans la zone ».
Le Niger subit dans sa partie occidentale les attaques meurtrières perpétrées notamment par les groupes terroristes proches d’Al-Qaïda au Maghreb islamique (Aqmi), d’Ansar Dine et d’autres mouvements rebelles basés dans le nord du Mali qui ont fait des centaines de victimes civiles et militaires ainsi que des dizaines de milliers de déplacés.
La zone de Kouré, proche des frontières avec le Burkina Faso, constitue depuis plus d’un an un nouveau foyer de l’insécurité dans l’extrême sud-ouest du pays entretenu par d’autres groupes djihadistes qui mettent en péril la sécurité des personnes et des biens.
