À l’occasion de la Journée mondiale de lutte contre le paludisme qui a lieu le 25 avril de chaque année, la communauté internationale se réjouit des progrès historiques réalisés depuis l’année 2000 et qui a permis de sauver des millions de vies. Cependant, la moitié de la planète est toujours exposée au risque de contracter cette maladie évitable et traitable, qui coûte la vie à un enfant toutes les deux minutes. Il s’agit donc d’intensifier la lutte et de tendre vers un monde sans paludisme.C’est cet engagement que réitère Mme Idé Zeinanou, activiste nigérienne de lutte contre le paludisme et chargée de programme, Impact Santé Afrique CS4ME.
Mme IDE Zeinabou intervient dans la communication, le plaidoyer et les programmes en matière de lutte contre le paludisme au sein de l’ONG Impact Santé Afrique basée au Cameroun. Issue d’un pays fortement endémique, elle est engagée dans la lutte contre le paludisme. Elle a souffert de cette maladie à l’école primaire et d’un absentéisme élevé l’ayant suivi durant tout son cursus académique. Elle a perdu sa cousine Jalila ainsi que son amie Nana Barira toutes deux décédées de neuropaludisme, une forme particulièrement sévère de la maladie et encore très peu connue en Afrique. « L’Afrique en raison de sa zone géographique est un terrain de favorable pour l’évolution du paludisme qui devient encore de plus en plus résistant, 94 % (215 millions) des cas estimés en 2019 y ont été enregistrés (source OMS). Quant au Niger, il est un pays fortement endémique du paludisme, nous faisons partie des « High Burden High Impact Countries » signifiant qu’il fait partie des 11 pays les plus exposés au paludisme dans le monde. Selon le Conseil des Ministres de novembre 2020, le Niger a enregistré 3 861 personnes décédées du paludisme sur 3 193 598 cas confirmés. Il est inadmissible que de millions de populations continuent encore d’en souffrir et d’en mourir dans le monde pour une maladie évitable et guérissable. Dans cette lutte, ma plus grande réussite est d’avoir contribué à la 6ème reconstitution du Fonds Mondial. En menant des campagnes de plaidoyer, j’ai été amenée à rencontrer plusieurs décideurs locaux au Niger comme au Cameroun. L’objectif est que les Chefs d’État africains contribuent davantage au financement de la lutte contre le paludisme, le VIH/sida et la tuberculose. A cette même conférence, avec de jeunes activistes impliqués dans notre cause, nous avons rédigé une déclaration à l’attention des leaders mondiaux pour exiger que les intérêts des jeunes soient représentés et que leur voix soit entendue. Grâce à ces fortes mobilisations, j’ai le sentiment d’avoir aidé à faire bouger les lignes. Je tiens à souligner que grâce à la forte mobilisation de la société civile, pour la première fois 24 pays africains ont promis de contribuer à la reconstitution des fonds du Fonds Mondial.
En tant que membre du comité consultatif de jeunesse de l’ALMA, nous plaidons pour que les jeunes soient plus entendus à la table des décideurs et je lance un appel auprès des leaders nationaux pour leur contribution significative dans la mobilisation des fonds de contrepartie des subventions paludisme du Fonds mondial et une augmentation des ressources domestiques allouées à la santé. »
