Le Niger renforce ses partenariats d’exploitation miniers avec l’attribution d’un permis d’extraction industrielle à la Compagnie Minière de l’Air Cominair SA pour exploiter le gisement de cuivre de Tabelot dans la région d’Agadez. Ce nouveau partenariat marque une étape importante dans les efforts de diversification du secteur minier, depuis, dominé par l’uranium. Cette nouvelle exploitation devrait concerner près de 3000 tonnes de cuivre par an sur 10 ans avec en tout, la création de 300 emplois directs.
Dans la même lancée, un autre permis d’exploitation minière a été accordé cette fois ci à la Comirex SA (Compagnie Minière de Recherche et d’Exploitation) pour une mine située dans la commune rurale de Dannet située également dans la région d’Agadez. Il faut noter que la Cominaire et la Comirex sont des entreprises nigériennes détenues respectivement à 25 et 40% par l’état nigérien.
Ces signatures s’inscrivent dans la démarche actuelle du gouvernement qui s’inscrit dans une volonté d’assurer la souveraineté nationale en priorisant les intérêts nationaux, notamment en ce qui concerne l’exploitation des ces minières. Il faut noter également que le Niger, à travers cette volonté de diversification du secteur minier s’inscrit comme un acteur important sur la scène minière africaine à travers la production de plusieurs ressources naturelles comme le pétrole, l’or, l’uranium et maintenant, le cuivre.
