Le Général d’Armée, Assimi Goita, chef de l’état du Mali et président en exercice de la confédération des Etats du Sahel a reçu en audience mercredi 06 novembre dernier l’ensemble des chefs d’Etat-Major du Burkina Faso et du Niger, pays membres de l’organisation. Cette rencontre s’inscrit dans le cadre du renforcement de la coopération militaire entre les trois pays qui partagent non seulement des frontières communes mais aussi des défis sécuritaires liés à la menace terroriste.
Cette rencontre fait suite à un accord de validation entre les chefs d’Etat-Major de la confédération d’un plan d’action élaboré par un comité d’experts portant sur la défense et la sécurité. Il s’agissait principalement à travers cette rencontre avec le président Assimi Goita de lui transmettre le plan d’action en question et de définir ensemble les orientations nécessaires à sa mise en œuvre sur le terrain, explique le Général de Brigade Moussa Saloua BARMOU, Chef d’État-major général des armées du Niger.
Cette audience aura également été l’occasion d’aborder des questions essentielles liées aux défis communs comme la sécurité, les stratégies et les opérations conjointes en cours.
