Le secrétaire général de l’organisation des Nations Unies (ONU), Antonio Guterres entamera à partir du lundi 2 mai 2022, une visite de travail de 48 heures au Niger.
Il s’agira pour Antonio Guterres de venir s’enquérir de la situation au Sahel et plus particulièrement de celle du Niger confronté depuis quelques années à une insécurité sans précédent ayant engendré un contexte humanitaire très difficile.
A Niamey, Antonio Guterres rencontrera les plus hautes autorités parmi lesquelles le Président de la République Mohamed Bazoum, le Premier Ministre Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou, le président de l’assemblée nationale, Seini Oumarou, et aussi l’ancien Président, Mahamadou Issoufou avec, sur fond des discussions, la situation sécuritaire du Niger.
C’est ainsi que dès son arrivée à Niamey, il aura un tête-à-tête avec le Président Bazoum qui sera suivi d’une rencontre élargie aux membres des deux délégations (Niger-ONU).
Le secrétaire général de l’ONU se rendra également, au cours de son séjour, dans la zone de Ouallam (région de Tillabéri) où sévissent les organisations terroristes qui sèment la terreur et la désolation parmi les populations de cette localité.
Il participera à Ouallam à une réunion de briefing qui sera organisée par les autorités administratives locales et militaires de cette zone. Il aura également des discussions, à l’école Madina de Ouallam, avec les leaders communautaires et traditionnels, les déplacés internes et les réfugiés, toujours sur la situation sécuritaire de cette zone du Niger.
Antonio Guterres tiendra des points de presse le lundi 2 mai 2022 au sortir de sa rencontre avec le Président Mohamed Bazoum et le mardi 3 mai, à l’issue de sa visite de terrain à Ouallam, indiique-t-on.
Rappelons qu’António Guterres est né à Lisbonne (Portugal), le 30 avril 1949. Il est titulaire d’un diplôme d’ingénieur de l’Institut Supérieur Technique. En 1976, M. Guterres a été élu au Parlement portugais, où il a siégé pendant 17 ans. Il est élu secrétaire général de l’ONU le 1er janvier 2017.
