Cette nouvelle attaque, dans le nord de la région de Tillaberi, au Niger, est attribuée à de présumés jihadistes. Près de vingt villageois ont été tués, mardi matin, par des hommes armés non identifié. La bande frontalière entre le Niger et le Mali est de plus en plus dangereuse pour les populations qui y vivent.
C’est le village de Alou Koira, situé à une vingtaine de kilomètres de la préfecture de Banibangou, qui a été la cible des assaillants venus à moto. Dix-huit civils trouvés dans le village et dans les champs de mil environnants, ont été tués. Au moins trois villageois ont été blessés.
Selon plusieurs sources, les hommes armés étaient auparavant dans le village de Deykoukou où ils ont tenté, sans succès, d’enlever plusieurs têtes de bétail. Craignant d’être rattrapés par l’armée nigérienne, ils ont abandonné le troupeau.
Un autre groupe d’hommes armés a été aperçu par des villageois entre les villages de Farka et de Dingazi Banda, dans une zone boisée et propice aux jihadistes, un couloir de passage pour le ravitaillement en carburant et en motos neuves.
De sources bien informées, on constate depuis quelque temps que les groupes armés tendent à commettre plus de dégâts et de massacres de populations civiles. En moins de deux semaines, au moins trente-quatre civils ont été tués, en majorité dans leurs champs, en plein travail.
Selon plusieurs analystes, les groupes armés sont déboussolés et sans repères. Depuis quelques semaines, en effet, l’armée nigérienne a neutralisé une quarantaine de terroristes, le 11 juillet dernier, à Tchombongou, dont plusieurs cadres de l’EIGS. Il y a quelques jours également, Barkhane et son allié américain ont porté des coups sévères aux chefs jihadistes à la frontière malienne.
