Le procès est néanmoins annoncé pour l’année prochaine et pourra se tenir même s’il manque des pièces au dossier selon Bruno Jaffré puisque le juge d’instruction en charge de l’affaire a transmis le dossier à la chambre de contrôle du tribunal militaire de Ouagadougou. « Cela veut dire que le juge considère qu’on peut ouvrir le procès ». La chambre de contrôle doit maintenant vérifier que « l’instruction a été faite dans les règles ». Et ensuite le procès proprement dit pourra être organisé et cela « va prendre évidemment un certain temps, parce que ça va être un procès de grande ampleur ».
Des charges comme « attentat à la sûreté de l’État », « assassinat », ou encore « complot » ont été retenues contre 25 personnes dont l’ex-président Blaise Compaoré qui vit en exil en Côte d’Ivoire et le général Gilbert Diendéré, son bras droit pendant plus de trente ans.
