Une délégation de haut niveau a été envoyée en mission à Cotonou capitale économique du Bénin ce mercredi 24 Juillet 2024. Cette mission vise principalement à rencontrer le président béninois Patrice Talon afin d’échanger sur la crise actuelle entre les deux pays.
Cette mission intervient après la méditation effectuée le 26 Juin dernier par les anciens présidents béninois Thomas Boni YAYI et Nicéphore Dieudonné SOGLO. Elle pourrait également marquer le début d’un retour à la normale des relations entre les deux pays depuis les évènements du 26 juillet 2023.
La délégation nigérienne est composée de Six personnalités de haut rang :
Le Général de Brigade Mohamed Toumba, Ministre d’Etat, Ministre de l’intérieur, de la Sécurité publique et de l’administration du territoire,
Dr Soumana Boubacar, Ministre-Directeur de Cabinet du Président du Conseil National pour la sauvegarde de la patrie
Un représentant du Haut Commandant de la gendarmerie nationale
Un représentant du Haut Commandant de la Garde nationale
Un représentant de la Police nationale
Un représentant de la Direction générale de la documentation et de la sécurité extérieure.
Après des mois de tension entre les deux pays marqués notamment par des accusations de part et d’autre, cette initiative de Niamey semble annoncer la fin des malentendus et un retour à une situation normale. Rappelons également que malgré la levée des sanctions, Niamey a maintenu fermées ses frontières avec le Bénin depuis le 26 Juillet 2023.
